The Crossroads of Time

Image
By Jayden Kyryluk On the outskirts of the Armenian ghost city of Ani, I sit in an abandoned terrace carved into the mountainside with a crumbling fresco adorning the arched roof. I see two angels above what appears to be Jesus Christ. The fading colours within and without the outline of figures and crumbling plaster are all that's left. Surrounding me are the signatures of people who have visited this room. I see messages in Armenian, Georgian, Arabic, and Turkish script dated 1916, 1886, 1908, 1880, and 1968.  This room is the crossroads of time, culture, language and religion. This room is the very crossroads of humanity. Over a hundred years ago and more, people just like I discovered this fresco, struck by its beauty. They wrote their names down. Perhaps to remember the day, or to be remembered in history. Now, hundreds of years have gone by and the meagre handwriting on these walls is all that remains of their story. History has forgotten their race, religion, and names; all t...

Learning Through Blueing

By Aimy Tariq   Whatever is causing sadness, fatigue or despair, know that it holds a deep sense of belongingness within you in that specific moment of experiencing; where rejection, loss, or disappointment acts as acceptance and a kind of protection, and there's a reckoning of a strong bong between what we lose and how in that process of grieving or disconnect we witness light, learning, and a unique level of awareness rising with each breath in...like a light cloud, soft sunshine, and the blueing of what seems imperfect, uncontrollable, or scary in all actuality it's an invitation to enter into realms of authenticity, unconditional love, forgiveness, and care. Our nervous system is a wired intelligent mechanism as it opens up portals of acceptance of new neural pathways, and keeps us safe and at home, and when we navigate through tougher moments allowing them to pass as impermanent layers of happenings, the anxious self slowly learns renewal while coping through it.  Aimy is...

Panmomentism

By Jayden Kyryluk Our beliefs are ever-changing .  It seems overwhelming to fit the concepts and traditions I resonate with into a concise philosophy.  But I've tried anyway. I call it Panmomentism . Consider this my first attempt.  What is Panmomentism ? Panmomentism is a combination of panpsychism and monism with a touch of existentialism, all with an overriding emphasis on the present moment and its synchronicity with the divine.  For reference, monism is the belief in non-dualism, that all of existence is One. There may be different animals, objects, and forms, but they all are unique manifestations of the same Whole . Panpsychism takes monism one step further. It is the belief that everything, both living and inanimate, possess a degree of consciousness, and that consciousness is the essence of the Whole . Some call the Whole God, Allah, the One , or Brahman. Existentialism is the belief that life has no meaning other than the meaning you give it, or in othe...

Everlasting Sādhanā – On the Edge of Enlightenment

By Kyle Wilfer Obtaining enlightenment is not an object of desire, but it is simply a place in which you must stand on the edge of. On the edge of a cliff, the wind blowing, the sun shining, and into the abyss of a vast space. In this vast space there is everything that the eye can see, but at the same time there is nothing as the feeble mind cannot process the entirety of what is. Everything, but nothing. There is bliss, but angst as the ego mind wants to grasp the beauty and make it its own – to identify and objectify for its own selfish purposes. “ This beauty is mine,” it says as a dark cloud enters. “I want this beauty to last forever,”  it says as the beauty starts fading back. “ I need to grasp this feeling forever to be happy,” it says as the light becomes dim. From the stillness of your mind, the witness, the watcher of it all, remains unchanged. It is not identified by where the incarnation is on the path as it is always on the edge of this space.  The balance ...

Who Are You?

By Jayden Kyryluk How about I ask you this: who are you? Take a moment and consider this question. What makes you, you? Take a few minutes and reflect on who you really are. … Ready? For most of us, our answer is along the lines of our nationality, gender, the sport that we play, the school we go to or our profession. It may be our parents, friends, car, clothes, but most commonly, our body. They are the ingredients of our soup. What if you lost one of these ingredients, maybe two? How about all of them? What if you sold your car, quit your job, got some plastic surgery, renounced your citizenship, and lost all memory of your childhood and all of your friends? Yeah, that's dark, but if you lost these things - who would you be then? I mean, you'd still be living and breathing. You'd still be human. How can we be the things that we can so easily lose? These things, or attachments, then, cannot be who we truly are. One question inevitably arises: Who Am I?  When we refer to ou...

How Did You Get Here?

By Jayden Kyryluk Before we begin this journey, I must ask you to consider the manner in which you got here. How did you get to the point of picking up this insignificant compilation of words on this day, at this time, and in this frame of mind? Was it random, or was it meant to be? Were you pulled to it, or did someone recommend these ramblings of some guy's mind? You see, how we become the person we are may seem completely random, yet if you take a deeper look, there are ulterior forces that direct more of our life and our decisions than we think. These familial, social, and cultural forces, among many others, shape our lives and form the person we make ourselves out to be. But the problem is just that, the things that surround us are who we think we are. The "true you," that part within you that never changes, is waiting to be found. What is here? Here is the relationship we are building with one another through the words on this page. Here is every breath you take. He...
